Watercolor on Alternate Surfaces Beginner to Advanced This studio workshop will cover working on various painting surfaces, other than traditional watercolor papers. We will work with acrylic-gessoed paper, plate (hotpress) Bristol, paper sealed with acrylic matte medium, Clayboard, Gator Board, Yupo and other unusual surfaces; all museum quality except the Yupo paper. Collage surfaces will also be discussed. The intent is to show the various advantages and disadvantages of working with watermedia on these various surfaces, and on canvas. Don Getz has been teaching the process of painting with watercolors on paper coated with acrylic gesso since 1977. He is the leading proponent of this method and has taught over 350 workshops in the past thirty years. He also spends a great deal of studio time working with acrylic paints in his studio. Instruction will be given on a ‘one to one’ basis and daily critiques are an important part of Don’s teaching. www.watercolor-online.com/DonGetz
